Wii Fit Plus Review: Part I
December 15, 2009 Posted by Painted Hen's Rooster
Of all of the games we own or have tested for our Nintendo Wii, the game that our family (mom, dad, the kids, and grandma and grandpa) kept coming back to again and again was Wii Fit. We all love something different about it, but we play it together just about every time we turn on our Wii. So, when we heard that Nintendo was releasing Wii Fit Plus, we were super excited. We went right out and bought a copy of the game and we’ve playing it constantly ever since. For our review of the Wii Fit Plus, we’re going to break it into two parts. Part I will be more about the family friendliness of the games and why it’s good for the kiddos, while Part II will be part of our January reviews of fitness titles for the Wii and will focus on the fitness/exercise/workout portions of Wii Fit Plus.

Aaah, the days of sitting around the kitchen table playing family board games. We still try to make time every week to play a non-digital game, but we recently received a copy of Hasbro’s Family Game Night for the Wii from Electronic Arts and we might be playing some classic board games on our TV. That’s right, Hasbro has released some of it’s most beloved family games for the Wii, including Operation, Jenga, Connect 4×4, Bop-It, and Pictureka. And, each game is playable in it’s classic mode or in remix mode, where you can do things not even imaginable in their real-life counterparts. Plus, the whole night is hosted by the loveable Mr. Potato Head, including the fun Family Game Show where you and your family compete with an audience and the “Challenge Wheel”. Here’s a good video walk through of all of the classic and remixed games as well as the Family Game Show:

December 9, 2009 Posted by Painted Hen's Rooster
If you have kids in the 10 and under crowd, chances are pretty good that you’ve heard about Bakugan by now. The Bakugan craze has hit a frenzied pace this holiday season with a Bakugan ball being sold every 4 seconds! Plus, there’s the top rated animated series on TV, and McDonald’s fueling the fire with Bakugan Happy Meals. And now, Nelvana and Activision have released what is sure to be a top seller this season, Bakugan Battle Brawlers for the Wii. If your kids play Bakugan now, they will love this game as it combines all of the strategy and action of the Bakugan balls/card game with the graphics and story of the animated series all in one video game. The game revolves around Bakugan battles in which you throw your Bakugan cards onto a battlefield and then try to roll your Bakugan balls onto the cards. If two Bakugan land on the same card, they “come to life” and battle it out. Here’s a video of the official launch trailer from Activision:
