Thanks for the comment, Lauralee. I imagine that outdoor floodlights would add a lot to your bill! I wasn’t a big fan of CFl bulbs for a long time, either, because they were ugly. But now they come in lots of shapes and styles and are much nicer to look at. They have outdoor ones, too, so maybe your husband could try those.

We’ve done a few little things, but not so much to help be number one in electrical energy use efficiency, but more to reduce our bill. I use the ugly light bulbs everywhere because they have helped to reduce my power bill. I just wish my husband would let us bring the flags in off the flag pole at night, so he wouldn’t have a light shining on them all night long. I think that’s what ups our bill alot.

Yes, Mary, I think it’s best if we keep these kind of people apart! But if reality TV has taught us anything, it’s that competition IS effective, right Cathy! And Painted Hen, I think it’s best if you and my Rooster don’t get together to discuss this for a while! :)

Maybe there is a support group for this! On the other hand, they might pass around more ideas! It sounds like a great motivation for conservation. More utilities ought to do this.
