I like the old standby:three r’s-reduce -reuse-recyle the best! I’ve raised our children with these 3 r’s,and I instill it in our friends in a non nagging way this has been around for years and for many years to come.It helped me ot think 24/7 on my purchases,if item doesn’t fall into the 3 r’s-I have to ponder how ot make it fit in it

Great tips, I buy candy at a bulk food store and place in paper bags, not as cute as the ones shown in the pic, but now I have a idea of how to decorate the bags myself.

Those are all great tips, Christy. Thank you! I especially liked the one about handing out less stuff. It will save money, and from a mom's perspective, the fun of Halloween is walking around outside in the dark and seeing all the neighbors- we don't need 3 pounds of candy per kid to make it better! (Usually the rooster and I just eat it anyway, and we sure don't need it!) I would love it if my neighbors decided give kids less. I will this year!

I would say the don’t drive to trick or treat. Another good tip would be, don’t make your toddlers walk up all those stairs. Most shopping centres now have trick or treat parties that last for a couple of hours and this is great for small children, they are held early enough to get the little ones home and in bed, and after visiting all the participating stores, there is usually plenty of goodies for little ones to be satisfied. Also much safer, warmer and pedestrian safe. Some also have prizes for best costumes.
