The Dragon Ball franchise has been around for years and the folks at Namco Bandai keep finding entertaining ways to extend that franchise.  The most recent addition is Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo exclusively for the Nintendo Wii.  Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo is a side-scroller fighting game with some basic platforming gameplay thrown in for good measure (Side-scroller platformer action means the action is viewed from a side-view camera angle, and the onscreen characters generally move from the left side of the screen to the right and involves  jumping to and from suspended platforms as well as jumping over objects).  The storyline revolved around Dragon Ball’s main character Goku, but this time around it’s the young Kid Goku.  The entire story and gameplay is based on Goku’s quest to aquire seven Dragon Balls, a set of mythical orbs that, when all seven are brought together, have the ability to grant a wish.  In order to gather the balls, you’ll need to advance through several levels and worlds by fighting and defeating enemies.

Wii Fit Plus Review: Part I

Untitled-4

Of all of the games we own or have tested for our Nintendo Wii, the game that our family (mom, dad, the kids, and grandma and grandpa) kept coming back to again and again was Wii Fit. We all love something different about it, but we play it together just about every time we turn on our Wii. So, when we heard that Nintendo was releasing Wii Fit Plus, we were super excited. We went right out and bought a copy of the game and we’ve playing it constantly ever since. For our review of the Wii Fit Plus, we’re going to break it into two parts. Part I will be more about the family friendliness of the games and why it’s good for the kiddos, while Part II will be part of our January reviews of fitness titles for the Wii and will focus on the fitness/exercise/workout portions of Wii Fit Plus.

12 years ago, Klonoa made its debut on Sony’s Playstation.  At the time, it was an almost instant classic.  Now, Namco Bandai is bringing it back to the Wii in an all new, beautifully designed mixture of 2D/3D side-scrolling platformer action.  (Side-scroller platformer action means the action is viewed from a side-view camera angle, and the onscreen characters generally move from the left side of the screen to the right and involves lots of jumping to and from suspended platforms as well as jumping over objects).

Family Game Night 2

Aaah, the days of sitting around the kitchen table playing family board games. We still try to make time every week to play a non-digital game, but we recently received a copy of Hasbro’s Family Game Night for the Wii from Electronic Arts and we might be playing some classic board games on our TV. That’s right, Hasbro has released some of it’s most beloved family games for the Wii, including Operation, Jenga, Connect 4×4, Bop-It, and Pictureka. And, each game is playable in it’s classic mode or in remix mode, where you can do things not even imaginable in their real-life counterparts. Plus, the whole night is hosted by the loveable Mr. Potato Head, including the fun Family Game Show where you and your family compete with an audience and the “Challenge Wheel”. Here’s a good video walk through of all of the classic and remixed games as well as the Family Game Show:
