Little Red Hen gave us lots of great ideas for Classic Christmas Gifts and we also wanted to give you some recommendations for the latest gifts out there. We love the Nintendo Wii gaming platform because it is so good at getting your kiddos up off the couch and moving around. So, if you’re going to get a video game system this year, we highly recommend the Nintendo Wii. But, as we all know, the investment in a video game system is just the beginning. There is the endless barrage of games on store shelves to choose from. And for the most part, the back of the video game boxes don’t tell you all that much about the game. Now, I don’t know about you, but when I’m about to shell out $30-$50+ on a game, I’d like to know a bit more about them.

What we set out to do was to find good, family friendly games for the Wii, play them, and then give you the true skinny on what we liked and didn’t like about them. No techie, gamer reviews…just reviews by real parents with real kids.  We reviewed lots of the latest games in the past few weeks and have come up with our recommended list of Family Friendly Games for the Wii. By “Family Friendly” we mean:

1. Games were rated E or E10+ by the ESRB
2. Games could be played by anyone in the family from 3 year-olds to grandma and grandpa
3. Games contained no graphic violence or foul language
4. Games contained no adult themes
5. Game play needed to be engaging

We won’t be providing full game reviews in this post, but every day for the next three weeks we will review one game from our recommended list (and some that didn’t make the cut too) so that you’ll have plenty of information to make your Christmas purchasing decisions. And don’t worry, we’ll be running other posts besides the video game reviews each day to keep giving you the best of the Five Hens.
